Blarney Castle

Built-in 1446 Blarney castle was the third castle on the site. Dermot McCarthy the King of Munster commissioned the building over six hundred years ago since then millions of visitors have flocked to one of Ireland greatest treasures.

Most visitors come to kiss the stone but most leave knowing the stone is only a small part of it. The castle itself is visually stunning and has so much history to tell.

Legend has it that King Robert gave half of the Stone of Scone to McCarthy the King of Munster as a thank you for his support in the Battle of Bannockburn in 1,314.

This, now known as the Blarney Stone, was incorporated in the battlements where it can now be kissed for the "gift of the gab".

Cork

St. Patrick's Street is Cork's main street and is a two time winner of 'Ireland's Best Shopping Street'. It's known affectionately as Pana and it dates back to the 18th century.

Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral was built by William Burges in 1863 and is dedicated to Fin barre of Cork the patron saint of the city. According to local legend when the Golden Angel (situated on the eastern facade) rings the angelic trumpets, the sound will alert the people of Cork of the imminent end of the world and allow citizens to be among the first to enter heaven.

Cork’s English Market has been trading since 1788. It is one of the oldest and best-covered markets in Europe, it has survived famine, floods and recessions to remain a strong part of Cork’s city centre. Today traders sell delicious organic and locally produced food.
